3. What are the technical requirements associated with online learning?

 Essentially, a computer, modem, and internet service provider is all that is needed to complete coursework online. Visit this link to view specific Technical Requirements.


4. Are online students ever required to come to campus?

Online students are invited to attend an on-campus orientation session that provides them with the opportunity to meet other students and the faculty members they will be working with in connection with their program.

Some online programs require brief on-campus residencies designed to supplement online course content. Online students that will be Visiting Edinboro in connection with a summer residency will find their time spent here both academically challenging and enjoyable.


5. How does an online course work?

Online courses are designed with maximum flexibility in mind. They allow you to complete related coursework when and where it is convenient for you to do so. Two o'clock in the morning or two o'clock in the afternoon; its up to you!

Students interact regularly with one another and/or their instructors using online chat, threaded discussion, bulletin boards, group projects, etc. Assignments, tests, and quizzes are completed and submitted online, and returned to students with appropriate instructor feedback.

Required textbooks can be purchased online through Edinboro University's
Bookstore and drop shipped to any location.

Online students have access to many of the same Library Services as students completing coursework on-campus. Students living more than 30 miles from Edinboro University's main campus can even borrow books from the university library and have them shipped directly to their homes!


6. Are online courses as good as those offered on-campus?

Absolutely. All of Edinboro University's online degree and post master's certification programs are regionally and nationally accredited, and taught by highly qualified full-time faculty members.

Online coursework is held to the same high quality standards, and must go through the same rigorous curriculum review process, as courses taught on-campus. In fact, the method of course delivery is not even specified on Edinboro University transcripts.


7. Are Edinboro University's online programs accredited?

Yes. All of Edinboro University's degree and certification online programs are regionally and/or nationally accredited by one or more of the following bodies: Pennsylvania Department of Education, National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), and the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSCHE).

9. Are online students eligible for financial aid?

10. Are online courses transferable to other colleges and/or universities?

Yes. Edinboro University's online courses can be transferred as easily as on-campus coursework. In fact, Edinboro University transcripts do not even reflect the method of course delivery.


11. What kind of technical support is available for online students?

Online students have access to the eCollege Help Desk, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.


12. Are online students assigned an advisor?

Yes. Online students are assigned an advisor and have regular contact with them via e-mail, live chat, bulletin board postings, and threaded discussion. Using live chat, online advisors can even set up "virtual office hours" to make themselves available to their students. Of course, online students may schedule face-to-face meetings with their advisor or contact them by phone if they wish to do so.


13. How do online students access library resources?

Online students have access to many of the same Library Services as students completing coursework on-campus. In addition, students living more than 30 miles from Edinboro University's main campus can even borrow books from the university library and have them shipped directly to them!


14. Do I have to follow a set course sequence or can I choose the courses I want to take each semester?

Online students must follow their programs prescribed course sequence. Deviations from this must be approved in advance by the student's advisor.


15. How do students register for online courses?

Students participating in an online program are registered for related coursework by their Advisor.


16. How many students are allowed to enroll in an online course?

To maintain quality and ensure maximum levels of interaction, online courses are limited to just 25 students.


17. Do online courses follow the same academic calendar as those taught on- campus?

Yes. Online courses have the same start and end dates as those offered on Edinboro University's main campus.


18. Can online students visit Edinboro University's Main Campus?
