Program Overview:

The Master of Education Degree in Educational Psychology is designed to give interested students a broad theoretical and practical background in the areas of education and psychology.  Students will find they are exposed to courses covering an interesting range of content from broad theories of psychology to specific empirically supported interventions for children with academic or behavioral needs. 

The focus of our program is to help students enhance their knowledge base related to academic consultation, crisis management and violence prevention in schools, counseling and interviewing approaches, special education, child development, teaching reading, and applying research in schools.  The program requires student to take two on-line courses each semester for two years.  Coursework in the first summer is required with a one week residency on campus related to crisis management and violence prevention.  A comprehensive examination and an applied educational research project are also required.

Admission Requirements: Fall semester start date.

  1. Completed online graduate application (link located at bottom of page. Deadline for application is four weeks prior to start of semester.  
  2. Application fee: $30.00 for new students, and $7.00 for returning Edinboro students. 
  3. Transcript: Submit an official transcript reflecting baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution to:

  4. Applicants should obtain scores averaging at or above the 30th percentile for verbal, quantitative and analytical writing sections of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
    Edinboro University's GRE code is 003321.
  5. Minimum 3.0 QPA for junior and senior year of bachelor's degree preferred.
  6. Three letters of reference using the School Psychology Recommendation form available at the FORMS page of the School of Graduate Studies and Research homepage.
  7. Professional resume
  8. Submit a one-two page essay answering the following questions:
         - What attracted you to the field of educational/school psychology?
         - What attributes do you possess that will enable you to succeed as a graduate student and
            ultimately as a practitioner?
         - What are your professional goals?
  9. If you are interested in transferring credits from a previous degree, you will need to fill out the Transfer Credits Form and submit it to the address listed above.
