Program Overview:
The Certification and Master of Education in Middle and Secondary Instruction is offered for post-baccalaureate candidates who majored in a math and/or science field. The program is especially viable for students who are currently teaching math and/or science with an emergency certificate or have a bachelor's degree in math or the sciences. By passing the Praxis II in the content areas of math or science (Mathematics, Physics, Earth Space Science, Biology, Chemistry, and General Science) and meeting university and state requirements, students are offered the opportunity to earn their Pennsylvania teaching certificate.

"Realizing that there is a shortage of teachers, especially in math and the sciences, we are pleased to offer this NEW opportunity for students to acquire a master's degree as well as a Pennsylvania teaching certificate in math and the sciences. This program comes at a time when baby boomers are reaching retirement age and the need for math and science teachers will be even more crucial. By working on-line and working with professors, students who enter this program will find it both rewarding and insightful."Dr. Jo Ann Holtz
