Program FAQ's
Program Overview:
The M.Ed. Reading program will enable students to obtain a master's degree in Reading and will qualify them for certification as a reading specialist. This professional training is essential in diagnosing and helping children overcome reading disabilities, as well as in promoting developmental reading practices in school. A one week summer residency is required.
The reading clinic is a one week summer residency, designed to present the prospective Reading Specialist the to begin to put into practice the theoretical constructs learned in preceding courses. The clinic practicum requires the graduate student to diagnose the reading problems of several different clients and prepare and carry out a remedial program of instruction.
"I have met many wonderful students, from many states and countries, during the years of delivering the Online Masters of Education in Reading. The online format is rich in content, rigor, and has a high level of interaction among the students and professors. The content knowledge is delivered through a variety of print and visual formats and we interact through the virtual environment using Threaded Discussion, Virtual Chats, and E-mail. We know each other well and share a genuine love for literacy at all levels."Dr. Denise F. Gaines
